John Logie Baird John Logie Baird FRSE (13 August 1888 – 14 June 1946) [2] was a Scottish engineer and inventor of the world's first practical, publicly demonstrated television system , and also the world's first fully electronic colour television tube. He is often known as "the father of television". Although Baird's electromechanical system was eventually displaced by purely electronic systems (such as those of Vladimir Zworykin , Marconi-EMI , and Philo Farnsworth ), Baird's early successes demonstrating working television broadcasts and his color and cinema television work earn him a prominent place in television's invention.
